What You Can Customize

A custom clothing program is not one decision. It is a set of specifications you can set individually, and most buyers do not need to change all of them. At NOVITA, a men’s casualwear program can be defined across these dimensions:

  • Fabric and composition — cotton, cotton blends, piqué, jersey, fleece, denim
  • Fabric weight — GSM for knits, ounces for denim
  • Colour — to your Pantone reference, with a lab dip approved before bulk
  • Fit and block — relaxed, regular, boxy, tapered or wide-leg, developed or adapted
  • Measurements and size grading — your own size chart, or an international size set
  • Construction — seams, stitch density, reinforcement, pockets and plackets
  • Trims and hardware — buttons, zips, rivets, drawcords, tapes
  • Branding — woven labels, printed labels, size labels, care labels and hang tags
  • Packaging — polybags, stickers, carton marks and mailer boxes
  • Decoration — screen print, puff print, digital print, foil, embroidery and heat transfer
  • Finishing — garment dye, vintage wash and denim wash development

The practical question is not whether a garment can be customized, but which dimensions carry your brand and which can stay standard. Every dimension you change moves the minimum order and the development time.

Product Categories We Manufacture

NOVITA is a men’s casualwear manufacturer. Production is concentrated in a focused range, so the same construction knowledge is reused across your reorders instead of being learned again each season.

  • Polo shirts — piqué and mesh knits, tipped collars, chest embroidery, woven labels. See custom polo shirts.
  • T-shirts — 160–260 GSM cotton jersey in boxy, oversized and classic fits. See custom T-shirts.
  • Knitwear and sweats — crewnecks and knitted tops in gauges and yarns matched to your price point. See knitted tops and custom hoodies and sweatshirts.
  • Denim and woven bottoms — rigid and washed denim, from tapered straight to wide-leg blocks. See custom denim and jeans.
  • Shirts, overshirts and lightweight jackets — available for OEM and ODM production. See custom jackets.
  • Casual pants — chinos, relaxed or pleated trousers and elastic-waist references. Compare custom casual pants and specify the waist, rise, leg and pocket measurements.
  • Cargo pants — straight, baggy, jogger and carpenter references. Explore cargo pants development and mark the pocket dimensions, closures and any cuff construction.

NOVITA sits inside the Foshan and Guangzhou apparel supply chain, which is why fabric, trims and decoration can be coordinated for one order rather than bought in from separate vendors. That supply chain access is also what keeps a small cut and sew run practical: a stock fabric and standard trims can be used at low volume, while custom-knitted fabric or custom hardware raises the effective minimum. We also work as a fashion and merchandise manufacturer for buyers who need a seasonal range rather than a single style — the same block can be repeated across colourways and reorders, and wholesale programmes can be packed and labelled for onward distribution.

Explore selected cutting and sewing footage in the NOVITA Factory Tour, with project-specific checks to discuss before production.

Cut and Sew Manufacturing

Cut and sew is the stage where fabric becomes a garment: the fabric is spread, cut to your pattern, sewn on a line, then finished, pressed and packed. NOVITA runs cut and sew production in our own Foshan facility, so cutting, sewing and finishing stay under one roof instead of being split across contractors.

A cut and sew program is the right route when you already have a pattern or a reference garment and need it made to specification — the same starting point as an OEM order. If you do not have a pattern yet, we develop one from your reference garment or tech pack during sampling.

  • Cut and sew apparel manufacturing — pattern making, grading, marker making, cutting, sewing, finishing and packing in one facility.
  • Custom cut and sew — your pattern, your fabric or ours, your measurements and size set.
  • Cut and sew for small brands and startups — orders start at 100 pieces per style per colour, with mixed sizes allowed in the same order.
  • Cut and sew as a service for brands and wholesalers — including private label and contract manufacturing arrangements, where we cut and sew to your specification and the finished garment carries your own labels.

Cutting and sewing capacity is planned around the fabrics we run most — cotton jersey, piqué, fleece, French terry, knitted yarns and denim — so a cut and sew quotation is fastest when the fabric direction is already known. Sampling normally takes 7–14 days; bulk cut and sew production is 60 days after sample approval.

Fit, Size Grading and Colour

Three specifications decide most of a custom program, and all three are confirmed on a physical sample rather than on a description.

  • Fit — work from your existing size chart and grade rules, or develop the block from a reference garment and target measurements.
  • Size — international size sets are supported. Actual garment measurements matter more than the S / M / L / XL label.
  • Colour — a Pantone reference can be developed as a fabric colour, with a lab dip approved before bulk.

Custom colour and custom-knitted fabric are both set by the mill rather than by the sewing line. That is why they affect the minimum order more than a fit adjustment does.

A lab dip sets the colour target; bulk material still needs a traceable release. Our fabric shade band approval guide explains how to record accepted groups, held rolls and cutting permissions.

Decoration and Finishing

Decoration is handled in-house at our Foshan facility, so artwork, sampling and bulk production stay in one place.

  • Screen print — water-based, plastisol and puff inks for bulk graphics
  • 3D puff print — raised texture
  • Digital print — full-colour artwork without screen fees
  • Foil and special effects — hot foil, silver, glow and reflective finishes
  • Embroidery and heat transfer

Finishing goes beyond decoration. When a garment is dyed or washed after construction, the finished measurements are what matter — not the measurements taken before the process. Garment dye and vintage wash directions can be developed and approved, and wash development and wash sampling are carried out in-house at our Foshan facility. See our craftsmanship and finishing capabilities.

Compare DTF and screen printing when specifying decoration. For a finish applied after sewing, use the garment-dyed and vintage-wash guide to name the intended route and approval reference.

Custom Clothing MOQ: What Sets the Minimum

MOQ is the first question most buyers ask custom clothing manufacturers. NOVITA’s standard custom MOQ is generally 100 pieces per style per colour, and mixed sizes can be combined within the same order.

That figure is a starting point. The effective minimum is set by whichever part of the order has the highest floor:

  • Fabric — a stock fabric can be used at low volume; a custom-knitted or custom-woven fabric is set by the mill’s minimum
  • Colour — a stock shade is immediate; a custom dye lot requires a mill minimum and a lab dip
  • Trims and hardware — stock trims are unrestricted; custom buttons, zips or rivets may require tooling
  • Packaging — plain bags are flexible; printed mailers and branded cartons are set by the print run

The usual way to keep a first order manageable is to hold fabric and trims standard and put the brand into the elements that carry no mill minimum — labels, tags, decoration and packaging. For a closer look at how minimums are calculated, see our clothing manufacturer MOQ guide.

Sample Development: 7–14 Days

For custom clothing programs, sample development normally takes 7–14 days once the fabric, measurements, design details and workmanship requirements are confirmed. Special materials, custom dyeing or complex decoration can extend this.

A sample is where a description becomes something that can actually be checked. It confirms fit and measurements, fabric weight and hand feel, colour, construction, trims, decoration position and labelling. Approving a sample is what allows bulk production to start. The full sequence is set out in our clothing sample development process.

Bulk production is generally 60 days after sample approval, depending on order quantity, fabric availability and customization requirements.

Keep Approval Decisions With the Order

Before production, retain one current measurement sheet, material and trim references, decoration artwork, sample revision and packing instructions. Mark open decisions and the person authorized to release them.

For a finished denim reference, use the denim wash approval checklist. For fastenings, review the installed zipper checks. Confirm the sellable unit, size-and-colour assortment and carton marks with the private label packing specification.

OEM, ODM and Private Label

There are three ways to work with a custom clothing manufacturer, and they are not mutually exclusive.

  • OEM — you provide the design and technical specification, and we manufacture to it. This suits buyers who already know exactly what the product should be.
  • ODM — you start from an existing block and change what makes the product yours: fabric, weight, fit, trims, colour and branding.
  • Private label — the garment is produced and sold entirely under your own brand, with your labels, size labels, care labels, hang tags and packaging. Working with a private label clothing manufacturer means the finished product carries no other company’s branding.

Many programs combine them — an ODM block with OEM-level specification on measurements and trims. NOVITA supports all three for men’s casualwear, and the sequence from quotation to shipment is set out in our OEM & ODM manufacturing process. For the decision itself, see OEM vs ODM clothing manufacturing and what private label clothing manufacturing is.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a custom clothing manufacturer?

A custom clothing manufacturer — sometimes called a custom apparel manufacturer — produces garments to a buyer’s own specification rather than selling stock designs. That can range from applying your branding to an existing block through to manufacturing entirely from your tech pack, including fabric, fit, trims, decoration and packaging.

What is your MOQ for custom clothing?

Custom programs generally start at 100 pieces per style per colour, with mixed sizes allowed in the same order. The effective minimum can be higher if the order needs custom-knitted fabric, a custom dye lot, custom hardware tooling or printed packaging. See our clothing manufacturer MOQ guide for the detailed buyer checklist.

How long does a custom clothing sample take?

Sample development normally takes 7–14 days once fabric, measurements, design details and workmanship requirements are confirmed. Bulk production is 60 days after sample approval.

What is the difference between OEM, ODM and private label?

OEM means we manufacture to your specification. ODM means you adapt an existing block with your own changes. Private label means the garment carries your brand, labels, tags and packaging. All three are supported. See our OEM versus ODM comparison for the detailed buyer checklist.

Can I order a small quantity for a new brand?

Yes, subject to the 100-piece-per-style-per-colour starting point. Keeping fabric and trims to available options and concentrating customization in branding, decoration and packaging is the usual way to keep a first order manageable.

What do I need to send for a quote?

A tech pack or reference garment, your target fabric and weight, colours, size range, decoration and branding requirements, estimated quantity and destination. You do not need all of it — a reference photo and a target quantity are enough to start.

Use the clothing manufacturing RFQ checklist to organize your quotation brief. If you are comparing T-shirt quotations, review which charges and assumptions belong in the comparison.
